Hi there! I’m Vanessa Nartey, founder of Love At The Well. Like many, I was a woman who, because of lingering decades-old unresolved trauma, found it nearly impossible to love, mother, or work to my fullest potential. My prayer was for God to HELP ME. I was no longer willing to live without knowing how to love others. I had deep, open, scars that only God Himself could suture.
A woman named Pat, who saw my lost and desperate condition, invited me to church. I reluctantly went (so she’d stop asking me to go.) After a year of attending, as a married woman with teenage daughters, I became a follower of Jesus, The Christ. I was smitten. My heart beat again. I knew I was loved, but I still struggled to love God, others and myself. I soon realized that I had to learn a new way of thinking and being.
Even though I did not know how to read the Bible, where to begin, or what it was about, I trusted God. So, I started reading at the beginning. God’s great Love Story (The Bible) and those He providentially led me to learn from, transformed my heart, mind and soul, forever. My relationships with my husband, daughters, granddaughter, family, and friends are now one of my life’s greatest joys. My continued studying led to me receiving a Biblical Studies Certification and becoming a C.S. Lewis Institute, Fellow Graduate.
The Bible is more than just a book of words. It is God’s revealing of Himself and His creation. God’s voice and heart, heard through The Bible, sets people free to exchange despair for hope, lostness with purpose, and shame for destiny. This is exactly what the outcast, Samaritan woman, who was longing for love, received when she met Jesus The Christ, “The Word Become Flesh”, at the well. Sitting with Jesus will change your life too.
I will always be on the journey of learning to love more deeply. My heart’s scars are reminders of just how far God has brought me and how much I will forever need Him. They are also the source of my passion to share with others, especially mothers, the hope, healing, joy, life, love and destiny that await those who are willing to trust God. If you need to learn how to love well, I hope you believe in what you can become. If loving is difficult for you, know that you are created for more. You are gifted and empowered for as full of a life as you can have on this side of the new heavens and the new earth.
Grace and Forgiveness are more than just words. They are life to those that desperately need them. May nothing, nothing, nothing, stop you from discovering Jesus – The Love that will free you, grant you grace and forgiveness, to live as the woman God is rooting for you to become.
I invite you to sojourn with us at the well this season.
